A figure stands at the edge between the known and the unknown. The horizon is hidden beneath an immense formation of luminous clouds which are deliberately obscuring what lies beyond, a presence positioned at the boundary between two states of existence.
The Sentinel is the obstacle.
Like a puzzle placed at the threshold, it asks the viewer to stop, observe, and understand. Something must be unlocked before the path beyond can reveal itself. The obstruction may not be something that can be physically moved; perhaps the key is perception, choice, understanding, or discovering what was hidden in plain sight.
The small red-and-white umbrella creates an almost surreal contrast against the vastness of the sky and ocean. It makes the figure feel fragile and human, yet strangely intentional and alive, as though you have arrived at this exact place for a reason.
You can see the shore and the cloud, but you cannot see what's beyond it, only sense it.
The painting becomes a meditation on the boundary between seeing and knowing.
